Twin Flames Program: Sharing Stories of Unbreakable Spirits

Presentations available in English, French and Inuttitut!

Curriculum Links

Understand the rich diversity of Indigenous cultures in Canada; gain an appreciation, through an interactive, thought-provoking musical experience, of life in the Arctic and living off the land. Get an inside view of what it is like to be a full-time musician touring the world.

Twin Flames creates a sonic soundscape using Indigenous spirit flutes, traditional drums, and Western instruments. They craft enticing musical arrangements, standout harmonies, and beautiful rhythmic patterns. The result is a warm, perfect blend of sounds.

Note From Twin Flames about the presentation:

We feel it is vital for individuals to learn about the past to ensure that history does not repeat itself. We have seen firsthand how difficult it can be for students to learn the hard truths about Canada's past, and we appreciate the work that school boards, teachers and Elders are doing to educate the new generation. Once history is learned, there must be a way to move forward and showcase what unbreakable spirits can achieve. That is what we aim to do.

We shift the narrative to the present and future, demonstrating what modern Indigenous people can achieve. No dream is too big! There are so many stereotypes about Indigenous peoples in Canada, and we hope to change that one show at a time.

Our cultural backgrounds do play a role in the personal stories that we share. However, we are not traditional knowledge keepers and would never claim to represent Indigenous peoples as a whole; that is not possible for anyone, as we are all unique humans. We are honoured to express ourselves, our values, and our upbringing. We are musicians first, sharing our love for music and our career.

Topics also include: Dreaming without limitations, believing in oneself, overcoming bullying, mental health and what it is like to learn differently.
